Our valued Public Sector client requires a Senior Database Developer to support application infrastructure environment for cloud based data warehouses

Today’s youth live in a digital world and expect to be able to access government programs and services in the same way they consume digital services from other providers. Given their digital savviness, the Government of Canada needs to optimize its business, operating, and service delivery models and enhance the digital experience it provides to meet the skills, employment, and learning needs of youth.

Tasks:

• Experience working with cloud databases such as Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, MongoDb, Elastic/Redis Cache and any other cloud based RDBMS & NoSQL database.
• Detailed knowledge of cloud based data warehouses, data modeling and architecture, infrastructure & reporting/analytics tools
• Perform Database health monitoring and proactively mitigate identified issues.
• Support application infrastructure environment in Cloud.
• Work with the application team to continuously improve performance, design, and processes.
• Solid understanding of data integration, business intelligence & data security/data analytics
• Perform Cloud-based Database health monitoring and proactively mitigate identified issues.
• Work with the application team to continuously improve performance, design, and processes.
• Abide by Incident, Change and Problem Management of the supported Cloud-based infrastructure.
• Support the governance of the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment process through Development, UAT, and Production environments.
• Follow and be a champion of agile best practices.
• Contribute to the design, development, maintenance, and support for our Enterprise Data Warehouse
• Design, build, and maintain reliable data infrastructure, integrations, and pipelines to move and transform data accurately
• Familiarity with Micro Service Architecture
• Solid understanding of Infrastructure As Code, usage of Terraform/ARM templates
• Provide excellent customer service by responding to and assisting with resolution of issues, including system outages, which may occur outside of normal business hours
• Work with others to determine and document complicated business requirements and processes
• Utilize Azure DevOps for work item management and Git source control to participate in peer design and code reviews, documentation, and subsequently contribute to company-wide standards
• Cultivate cross-functional collaborative relationships with Product Owners and IT Professionals
• Manage time across project, support, and enhancement initiatives
• Monitor database space, audits backups, and administer security
• Help train and mentor junior programmers
• Build future data and analytics environment for a diverse global enterprise
• Manage release issues like corruption, memory leaks, lock contentions, performance regressions, increased CPU usage, and scalability challenges.
• Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution using best practices in the cloud.

Must-haves:

• 5+ years of experience working as a database developer in Enterprise Data Warehousing environments
• Familiarity with SCRUM and experience working in Agile teams
• Work with Business Analysts and potentially business customers to verify requirements
• Design/model tables/documents to meet architectural requirements for schema/schema less database
• Experience with database performance tuning and database management tools for backups, recovery, snapshot management, sharding, partitioning.
• Strong English language and communication skills
