Our valued client is currently seeking a Sr. Android Development Lead for a 1-year contract in Ottawa (100% remote).

The Android Dev Lead will be working on either projects or Support related activities. Two key projects are about to start: Porting an application on a new Android Mobile device and doing a POC for single signon.

The Android Dev Lead will be working on either projects or Support related activities. Two key projects are about to start: Porting an application on a new Android Mobile device and doing a POC for single signon.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for estimating, planning, managing and the quality of all his/her own tasks and reporting on progress.
- Participate in sprint planning, design, coding, unit testing, sprint reviews.
- Participate in code reviews and commit to high quality code.
- Be flexible in accepting outstanding work items, be they development or test, in order to help the team achieve sprint goals.
- Lead other developers working on the projects/support related activities
- Interact on a regular basis with the Product owner
- Provide support to test teams during product and UAT testing of the technical solution developed
- Investigate and provide post implementation support of the technical solution implemented
Must-Have Skills:
- 3+ years’ experience as an Android Developer
- Overall 5+ years’ experience in an IT environment
- 3+ years Strong Java programming skills in many of the following: UI design, Material Design for Android, Wireframes, Android Native and Hybrid approaches like Xamarin
- 3+ years’ experience using relational databases (Oracle DB, MySQL, MS SQL Server)
- 3+ years’ experience with JavaScript, jQuery
- Experience with TeamCity/Jenkins/Git
- A very good understanding of OOP, design patterns, Android and enterprise in mobile application integration, Android Design Patterns and material design, Database Design, Development and Performance Optimization
- Experience working with and integrating into backend technologies (cellular, Wi-Fi, queues, web servers, databases)
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with mobile analytics
- Knowledge of MVC Framework
- Experience using build tools (Gradle, Maven)
- Experience with MQTT (IBM MessageSight)
- Experience with Message Oriented Middleware (IBM MQ)
- Demonstrated deployments of enterprise or consumer-facing mobile software systems using industry standard environments including Android native and Hybrid app
- Experience with Enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions
