Sr. Business Systems Analyst with FIX, Kafka and Nifi experience to work on a capital markets structured notes project - 26607

Location Address: Hybrid, downtown Toronto 
Contract Duration: 6 months


Project: Structured Notes Project
  1. Reconciliations (utilizing BA to facilitate Cerberus and Zeus and meeting mid-office objectives)
  2. TT and Tradebook data into the data platform (understanding orders and trades and mapping into data platform fields)

Typical Day in Role
  • Research, formulate, and perform data-driven analytics using SQL and/or other tools such as Elastic Search, Postman, and Kibana.
  • Assist in resolving complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the system needs of the Institutional Equity Trading Desks and their internal and external customers, by applying your business and technological knowledge to perform analysis, reconciliations, defining user requirements, design and implementation of system enhancements/solutions.
  • Support, liaison, and gather requirements from senior stakeholders and clearly articulate business requirements to technical teams.
  • Building relationships with vendors to allow for regular communication for needs and adequate time to implement changes
  • Working with technology and business partners and stakeholders to do data mapping, data analysis, order and trade data mapping from federated systems (TT and Tradebook data is being mapped into a consolidated data model).
  • Test, validate, and deploy solution to production environment
  • Create artifacts required for deployments
  • Working with data platform team and connect with other teams from data governance, etc. to deploy solution from one environment to another.
  • Work with raw data from developers to reroute data to different topics (understanding of NiFi is required)
  • Analysis of business needs (trading, regulatory, etc.) resulting in the creation of requirement
  • Produce conceptual interface designs through iterative wireframes, mock-ups, user flows, conceptual diagrams and provide detailed specifications to the development team
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis

Must Have Skills:
  1. 5+ years’ experience in a relevant capacity as a Business Systems Analyst 
  2. 2+ years’ experience within capital markets data (trade lifecycle, securities, reconciliations, vendor management, equities post-trade processes, institutional equities, etc) with in-depth knowledge of Capital Markets data analysis
  3. Understanding of how FIX Protocols  (Financial Information Exchange)
  4. Experience working with NiFi or Kafka or other ETL tools to understand how flows work
  5. Strong data driven analysis knowledge (Elasticsearch) and ability to write SQL queries. 
Nice-To-Have Skills:
  • Vendor application and federated trading platforms experience with products such as Duco, Fidessa, Bloomberg, etc.
  • Hadoop/Big Data experience to analyze and help develop solutions
  • Ability to work with third-party APIs, Postman, and other API/data tools.
  • Prior experience with Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
Degrees or certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
  • Financial education (relevant courses, CSC, CFA…) will be considered as an asset.
