Our valued client is currently seeking a Sr. Solution Integration Architect for an initial 1-year contract (with possibility of extension) in Ottawa (remote option).

Job Description:
The Solution Integration Architect (SIA) is a senior role in the overall organizational architecture family.  The SIA will report to the NGI Program Lead and will provide overarching architecture direction for the Next Generation Infrastructure (NGI) program. The NGI program is our Cloud Transformation program and the SIA will play a pivotal and decisive role in on cloud technologies, architecture, foundations, and solution patterns. They will also provide technical leadership to business partners and internal stakeholders regarding the integration of systems, software, and processes.
The SIA will mentor and review the deliverables of the solution architects reporting into the NGI program while ensuring solutions meet business needs along with architecturally significant functional and non-functional requirements.  In collaboration with solution architects they will initiate the architecture blueprints that establish the specific standards and patterns that will be used by development teams. The NGI SIA works with NGI Business Domain Architect, Cloud COE and the Enterprise Architecture team to define multi-year technology roadmaps.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the procurement process to select the Cloud Service Provider to host portions of the workload in the cloud.
  • Provide technical/architectural guidance on cloud technologies, architecture, foundations, and solution patterns in collaboration with the Cloud COE as well as the Architecture COE to ensure it complies with enterprise architectural standards and roadmaps and IT strategies
  • Provide leadership for the NGI program for the conceptual, logical and physical reference design for cloud-based solutions for infrastructure and platforms ensuring that the design is consistent and well integrated with existing conceptual, logical, and physical architectures.
  • In collaboration with the Cloud COE and the Architecture COE, research and evaluate software technology, products and solutions, and make recommendations on technology/production introduction, phase-out and retirement
  • Provide guidance on new tools and techniques to increase performance, automation, agility and scalability as the team works through the rationalizing applications for migration to Cloud

Must-Have Skills:
  • Domain knowledge: Deep understanding of cloud ecosystem and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies as well as knowledge and understanding of product features for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Good understanding of leading cloud platforms (CSPs) and its comparative advantages and challenges. Previous experience in driving cloud adoption and maturity through its infancy, along with establishing cloud architectural patterns.
  • Architecture design: experienced in several technology architecture design or re-design efforts
  • Client Management: can consolidate business requirements and translate them into a solution architecture and communicate them back to the client in an understandable way. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to translate architectural decisions into business value and business case.
  • Solution design: familiar with workflow concepts and how they integrate with application solutions in a cross applications context
  • Value Management: can identify the effectiveness and completeness of business and technology strategies and ensure alignment with clients and other applicable cross-organization strategies

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience in one or more Agile and/or Cloud transformations i.e. transitioning from traditional IT methodologies to a cloud environment.  
  • Project experience implementing core infrastructure, networking and cloud-based services for business teams or consumers
