JOB PURPOSE  
Reporting to the Data Governance Lead, the Direct Investing & Advice (DI&A) Data Specialist will be responsible for establishing data governance procedures, data quality metrics and rules, and managing metadata, data sharing and access logs for various data domains in conjunction with the business and within the parameters of the Capital Markets Program. The Data Specialist will be part of a centralized Data Governance Team in the CAO office of Capital Markets, and will work closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Custodians and all other data stakeholders in Capital Markets and Wealth Management divisions as well as the Enterprise Data and Records Management Office.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
Data Governance
•             As the Direct Investing & Advice (DI&A) Data Specialist, work with the Capital Markets Data Governance Lead, Data Owners and other stakeholders in order to define and implement data governance processes and practices to ensure alignment with the Enterprise Data Governance policy and the Capital Markets program.
•             Champion Capital Markets data governance framework to enhance data governance practices in the organization and extend the framework where needed.
•             Assist in identifying Critical Data Elements, review and agree on them with other data roles from business and technology.
•             Develop business glossary content for DI&A data domains and processes to create and maintain content.
•             Collaborate with Data Stewards, Data Architects, Data Analysts and Business Analysts across Capital Markets to understand their requirements to expand Glossary definitions.
•             Coordinate and attend data governance working groups to continuously review, maintain and enhance data governance procedures, processes and artefacts.
•             Create and maintain the centralized data issue log by taking inputs from business data stewards and following up on progress of resolution.
•             Create and maintain the centralized data quality rule repository and coordinate the definition of common data quality rules with inputs from business data stewards.
•             Maintain the data quality dashboard for DI&A Data domains by inputs from authoritative data source representatives.
•             Document Data Custody Agreements and Data Sharing Risk Assessments between source and destination data sources by taking inputs from data stewards and data custodians, and seeking approval from data owners.
•             Maintain all data access requests for analytical data sources in centralized data access logs and monitor data access expiry.
•             Define data governance KPI metrics and maintain a data governance dashboard for data with inputs from Data Governance Working Groups and Data Governance Council.
•             Create and facilitate high quality training and communication materials to promote Data Governance across DI&A and Capital Markets.
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
•             Capital Markets/Wealth Management Domain Knowledge:
o             Significant experience in Capital Markets or Wealth Management, ideally in change initiatives.
o             Excellent Capital Markets or Wealth Management business and product knowledge.
o             Good understanding of end-to-end Equity and Fixed Income Trade Lifecycle.
o             Knowledge of applicable domestic jurisdictional and company-specific regulations, policies and guidelines affecting business practices. In particular knowledge of trade reporting requirements (IIROC, etc.) is considered a key asset.
•             Data Governance and Management:
o             Experience with data management and data governance principles and practices, including but not limited to: Business Glossary, Metadata Management, Data Quality Assessment, Data Issue Management and Data Access Management.
o             Strong understanding of data management practices, applicable techniques, and technology.
o             Good understanding of data structures and data lifecycle.
o             Familiarity with data storage, data processing and data management technologies.
o             Experience with data-centric change initiatives (data migration, data transformation, data analysis and insights) is an asset.
•             Change Management: 
o             Experience with operating model, process and system changes in a large corporate and/or financial services environment.
o             Ability to understand, monitor, update, or enhance existing business or work process. 
o             Strong continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities for operational enhancements and process efficiencies.
o             Technical skills and comfort level working with existing and new technology and software applications.
o             Experience with AGILE methodology is an asset.
