Duration: 2 months (possibility of extension)
Location: Hybrid (Etobicoke / remote and in-person office work required on an as needed basis)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week
 
The number of hours and specific days of in-person work is to be determined, based on the needs of the project.  The Data Analytical Specialist will work with the Hiring Manager and the Project Lead to determine the amount of in-person work required, based on the requirements of the project.   
 
Role profile:
Under the direction of the Associate Director, Institutional Research and in partnership with the Enterprise Solutions team, the Data Analytics Specialist is an integral member of a project team deploying a Microsoft SQL Server solution for warehousing and managing data originating outside the institution’s Student Information System (SIS) used for strategic reporting and decision-making.  
The Data Analytics Specialist has responsibility for the design, development, implementation, and testing of the IPA SQL Server solution to support new and improved data management processes.  
 
The Data Analytics Specialist has subject matter expertise in data architecture and modeling. 

Data Analytics Specialist Responsibilities 
  • Undertake a needs assessment for data warehousing, integration, and modeling by listening to the client’s business and application (Tableau) requirements and interpreting those requirements into actionable, operational objectives and related data architecture.
  • Design methods to capture, structure, transform, and process data to be used to generate models.
  • Lead design, development, implementation, and testing related to the IPA SQL Server solution.
  • Ensure successful and timely deployment of the IPA SQL Server solution configured to meet the needs of the business with minimal customization.
  • Ensure process continuity and drive IR team maturity through knowledge transfer, standardization, documentation, end-user training, and presentations.
  • Ensure alignment with the college’s Data Governance Policy, Digital Campus Plan, and cloud strategy.

Must Have Experience 
  • Five (5) years of practical experience designing, delivering, and maintaining platforms, including SQL Server, and SQL Server Management Studio. 
  •  Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, implementation, and testing of data warehousing and management solutions
  • Experience developing data extraction, transformation, and load functionality for large relational and multi-dimensional data stores
  • Proficiency in query languages and experience constructing complex query statements (T-SQL is a must-have).
  •  Experience in one or more programming or scripting languages 
  • Understanding of data management, financial and business analysis, database architecture, and information visualization.  
 Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud including Tableau Prep and Tableau Desktop
Education
  • Four (4) year Degree, or equivalent, in a computer-related area and continued education in current Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management Science, Business, or related field
  • Preferred certification(s) include AWS and/or Azure or equivalent experience
 
Interview Process:
A technical test will be administered to selected candidates.  Only successful candidates will be scheduled for an interview.
