Intermediate Mechanical Designer with experience utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) to draft technical designs from Engineering requirements for military products

Our Client is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Designer with experience utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) to draft technical designs from Engineering requirements for military products.

This role requires eligibility for Enhanced Reliability and Controlled Goods Clearance (Canadian citizenship and most recent 5+ years residing in Canada).

Please note this role requires access to the Calgary based lab so must be within driving distance to the office on a monthly basis.

Must Haves:

• 3+ years working as a Mechanical Designer or Drafter to create designs/drawings from technical requirement documents for assembly tooling, jigs and fixtures
• Experience using CAD
• Experience using PLM or similar 3D Computer Aided Design software
• Diploma as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides mechanical design, drafting and/or technical support to project groups for new and existing equipment (fixtures, cables, products, etc.) utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
• Able to create 3D parts or assemblies ranging in complexity, based on verbal, hand sketched, design layout instructions, production methods and processes, and produce detailed drawings in accordance with accepted industry and Company standards.
• Works with the Manufacturing Engineer to design assembly tooling, jigs and fixtures.
• Supports the Manufacturing Engineer in the development of effective assembly methods and processes that define the sequence of product build operations. Plans and compiles Assembly Methods Instructions (AMI) that direct the sequence of operations and the method for assembly of cables, wiring harnesses, wired assemblies and mechanical assemblies.
