Our large energy client in Calgary is seeking an Intermediate Project Controller for cost management of IT-related projects using SAP PS, Fieldglass, and MS Excel.

Must-Have:
  • 4+ years project controls experience
    • Strong understanding of cost management
  • 3+ years exposure to SAP
  • Expertise in Microsoft excel and high proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Nice-to-have:
  • Experience working in an IT project environment
  • Advanced working knowledge of SAP Project Systems for input of purchase requests and work orders
  • Experience with Fieldglass
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Skilled with Power BI
Overview: Work with various business groups to align processes, workflows and deliverables. Support functional controls services to portfolios and groups of projects throughout the project life cycle including the creation and maintenance of the work breakdown structure (WBS), reviewing and issuing purchase requests, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, updating of forecast entry, tracking cost and schedule impact of changes, and supporting financial close out.
 
Key Accountabilities
  • Set up projects in SAP; build and maintain the WBS, network and activities as directed.
  • Craft purchase requests with required backup and vendor quotes according to standards and provide reporting on purchase request data.
  • Provide analysis and entry of incurred costs and forecasts with detailed cost reporting back up documentation on a reporting frequency as required
  • Compares planned, incurred, actual, and forecast hours, costs, and provide variance analysis and explanations.
  • Understand, track, monitor and report impact of risks and changes on total project costs and schedule and ensure adherence to approved budgets and funding released.
  • Support, prepare, consolidate and analyse individual project reports for all business partners, assuming responsibility for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
  • Support end-to-end financial project close out including financial close and SAP entries as directed
Duration: ASAP for 1 year initially with opportunity to extend. 
Location: Downtown Calgary in the office 3 days/week. Remote 2 days/week
