Our large Oil & Gas industry client is seeking a Junior Real-Time Systems Application Analyst for decision support and integrity of an AVEVA PI System. This is an initial 1-year contract with a possibility of renewal.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about energy, natural gas, and oil pipeline operations. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to apply knowledge in computer systems within a production environment.

Must-Haves:

  • 1+ years' experience with C#/Java Programming, SQL Database, and/or web application (JavaScript) support
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Information Science, Engineering related area or equivalent program or experience
  • Basic understanding of network telecommunications including TCP/IP, IP addressing, firewalls, server-client architecture, and communication protocols

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Aveva PI and application development
  • Experience programming in Java or C#
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in supporting SCADA and Pipeline Control Center Operations
  • Experience in web technologies such as JavaScript, jQuery, JSP, Web API, Angular
  • Knowledge of data acquisition from industrial electronic devices
  • Proficient with MS Windows OS, MS Windows Server OS, MS SQL Server
  • Experience in support and configuration of web server such as IIS, Apache Tomcat
  • Experience in creating, querying and managing relational databases
  • Knowledge in workflow tools such as JIRA, Service Now and Azure DevOps

Responsibilities Overview:

  • Support and upgrade infrastructure including operating systems, software, and databases
  • Support integrated computer-based information solutions for business and operation’s processes for the reliable operation of Oil & Canada Gas Pipelines and Power Assets
  • Conduct analysis of customer requirements, the production of functional specifications, and the development of a satisfactory information solution
  • Address the total solution in terms of communications, data sources, software tools, and integration with existing functions, user interfaces, algorithms, etc.
  • Perform testing of all project work in a development environment and be responsible for the safe, reliable implementation of all work in a real-time production environment
  • Evaluate and provide estimates for stakeholder support and service requests
  • Work with pipeline operations, engineering, and field personnel to test, tune and trouble-shoot the real-time applications
  • Participate in post-analysis of a variety of technical problems
  • Assist with information gathering and report generation
  • Assist with prioritization, coordination, and management of operational support, projects, and workflow
  • Assist with documentation of applications and support processes

Location: Must live in/near Calgary as the client follows a hybrid in-office working model (3 days in office/week)
