Our telecommunications client is looking for a Senior Producer to develop an original documentary production of filmmakers to tell thought provoking stories from BC and Alberta Communities - 18441.

Initially a 12 months contract with a possibility of extension. Hybrid model. Open to candidates across BC or AB.

Must Haves:
  • 10+ film/TV production experience, ideally within BC or AB.
  • Fundamental understanding of film production and technical film language, ideally in the contemporary documentary landscape.
  • Ability to assess production budgets, schedules and teams.
  • Familiarity with best practices as set forth by equity-driving industry groups, including:
    • Indigenous Screen Office
    • Black Screen Office
    • Racial Equity Screen Office
    • Disability Screen Office
    • ImagineNATIVE's "ON-SCREEN PROTOCOLS + PATHWAYS: A Media Production Guide to Working with First Nations, Metis and Inuit Communities, Cultures, Concepts and Stories"
Nice to Haves:
  • Cultural safety and/or specific decolonization and anti-racism trainings.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian film/TV funding landscape, including tax credits.
  • Experience liaising directly with a production executive, commissioning editor or funder through the production and post production cycles of a project.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop an outreach strategy to secure program-qualified pitches
  • Create and foster relationships with B.C. and Alberta-based producers, including in particular, among equity and narrative sovereignty-seeking filmmakers.
  • Contribute respectfully and constructively to producers’ ideation during pitch development and pre-production
  • Assess market viability of a production, including value to community and potential impact production opportunities
  • Contribute to the pitch evaluation and decision-making process, including the completion of an evaluation rubric to ensure we have a strong slate of productions that meet our various mandates
  • Propose a production slate to senior leaders for final approval before greenlight
