Senior Solution Architect to develop architectural framework and design for major financial and banking systems

Our valued financial client is seeking a Senior Solution Architect for a 1 year contract in Ottawa, ON (Remote, occasional travel to Ottawa, ON may be requested - optional extension of 2 years)

As the successful candidate, you will develop the conceptual, logical and physical infrastructure architecture to support the delivery of solution components within various Financial Market and Banking projects, ensuring business requirements are met, while aligning with the Enterprise Architecture principles and Cyber Security standards.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in all phases of the project life cycle to implement the required information technology; adding technical know-how, creativity and a seasoned perspective to initiatives and teams
• Act as the primary technical authority and perform planning activities leading to the solution architecture development
• Develop architectural framework and design for solution components within the Financial Market and Banking Operations group to support both new project delivery, or maintenance and enhancement efforts, ensuring that data, infrastructure, and application architectures are aligned
• Define and document the solution architecture structure, connections and relationships with security interfaces, business applications, data, and user interfaces
• Identify technical issues and risks and define mitigation approach
• Work closely with subject matter experts to confirm the detail design of each solution component and integration among components; as well as coordinate the implementation of the detail design
• Work with the Enterprise Architecture group to apply organizational standards
• Work with the Cyber Security group to apply Cyber Security standards
• Present and seek approval for proposed design from the different governing bodies
• Prepare knowledge transfer materials and complete knowledge transfer sessions with internal employees

Must-Have-Skills:

• 5+ years of working experience in developing solution architecture, with demonstrated knowledge of principles and best practices in software architecture, and architectural/design patterns and frameworks
• 5+ years of hands-on working experience with Cloud PaaS/IaaS, Java EE (Spring Framework), DevOps, and Microservices/OpenShift applications
• 3+ years working with enterprise mission critical/high availability solution Architecture/technologies 
• 3+  years working in an Agile Scrum environment

 
Nice-to-Have Skills

• Recognized IT industry certification such as TOGAF, Zachman, ITIL and project management certification
• Demonstrated hands-on working experience of developing solution architecture for Cloud based SaaS/PaaS/IaaS solutions, with integration with ‘On Premise’ solutions
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing and implementing solutions in Microsoft Azure
• Experience in a capital markets, financial, and/or banking environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of leading vendor platforms, such as Cisco, Oracle, Mulesoft, Microsoft and IBM
