S.i. Systems enterprise public health client is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to establish repository for documentation, use SOP template to write procedure manuals, tech specs and process documentation for WEST Alliance Office. You will also establish repository for documentation.
MUST HAVE SKILLS:
3+ years experience as a Technical Writer
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or relevant technical field
· Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)
· Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
· Experience in working with technical teams (engineers, programmers, project managers) to refine and translate content, create visuals and/or diagrams for business teams or end users
JOB DUTIES:
Develop comprehensive documentation that translates complex information, concepts, and processes into simple, polished and engaging content.
• Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
• Assess the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding
• Gather information and ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information from subject-matter experts and service area leads to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
• Create illustrations, diagrams, and other visual aids to complement the text editing, and updating technical documents and content, such as manuals, guides, and instructional materials
• Convert complex technical information into clear, concise, and well-structured content that can be easily understood by a specific audience
• Plans writing processes and tasks and sets timelines and deadlines
• Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement
• Work with WEST-PMO to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine best solutions for reference materials and centralized storage
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Core Deliverables to include, but not limited to:
• Documentation using a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) template (procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation)
• Established repository for documentation
PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The WEST agreement is an outcomes-based partnership between the BC Health Authorities and NTT Data who are jointly committed to delivering, supporting, and enabling the tools and infrastructure that are foundational for clinicians and providers, in delivering health care for people in BC. The objective of the Workplace Evolving Services and Technologies (WEST) Services Agreement is to enhance the capability of the HAs to leverage technology (desktop and managed support services) to systemically improve the delivery of health services across the province of British Columbia.
The PHSA WEST Alliance Office (AO) was created to manage the relationship and the WEST Services Agreement with NTT Data on behalf of PHSA and the Health Authorities (HAs) in BC. The AO monitors and supports the relationships, processes and services, with a focus on service excellence, continual service improvement and innovation. The WEST-AO is accountable for contract management and supports the provincial delivery of the WEST Strategy and its expected outcomes
The role of Technical Writer, WEST-AO will report into the Director, Innovation & Transformation and liaise with the WEST Alliance Office (AO) Project Management Office (PMO) and cross functionally with team leads and Directors to develop documentation that reflects the context of the services supported by the WEST Alliance Office.
