Our valued public sector client is seeking a Sr. Project/Program Manager for a 12-month contract in Toronto (mostly remote)!

The role will provide program and project management, governance, and reporting primarily for the IT Infrastructure and Applications teams.  This includes managing individual projects, interdependencies between projects (i.e. timing, resources and systems integration), and operational work.  
The role will work closely with technology and business stakeholders to ensure the success of all projects requiring resourcing from IT Infrastructure and Applications teams, while executing on the operational, i.e. Keep the Lights On (KTLO), work.  The role will also provide project leadership and a disciplined approached to execution, ensuring the successful implementation of IT related initiatives, and operational work.

  • Lead individual IT projects and work performed by the IT Infrastructure and Applications teams (including IT KTLO work) as a program, providing overall governance and assuming accountability for overall success of the program and projects.
  • Create program plans and capacity planning for the IT Infrastructure and Applications teams, that accounts for all project and operational work to maintain the IT environment (i.e. “Keep the Lights On”, KTLO work).
  • Work with internal business and IT stakeholders, and external stakeholders, to build, manage and update project plans for a full range of project sizes.
  • Lead the application of IT’s Governance principles on programs and initiatives.
  • Work with stakeholders to proactively manage risks and resolve issues.
  • Provide reporting and support for IT’s project portfolio governance.
  • Substantial experience project-managing technical infrastructure projects and application implementations and changes.
  • PMP Project Management Professional designation is required.
  • Stakeholder management experience in a dynamic organization. 
  • Experience dealing with multiple Managed Service Providers, and Cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure.

Must haves:
  • 7+ years of experience leading multiple IT projects/programs
  • Experience with SharePoint and Cloud (preferably Azure) upgrade projects
  • Experience working in a PMO environment.
  • 5+ years of experience with Stakeholder management
  • Experience building Project Charters and managing risk logs
  • High Budget project experience
  • Functional lead experience
  • Governance
